Embrace The Moon Fall 2026 Tai Chi & Qigong
Registration is open!
Classes begin September 20

Greetings!

It’s Dahlia Season! Seems I never quite believe their glory will grace my garden and before I know it I’m overwhelmed with it. Dahlia growers all over know that Dahlia’s create insanity! And we just can’t quit them. :)

While you are weeding and tending to your late summer/early fall garden and back to school activities, do take a moment to register for you fall classes as they

are almost at capacity already! I’ve never quite seen this level of enthusiasm. I’ve been at it long enough to remember the “it’s a cult!” days, and now a good Tai Chi and Qigong practice is right up there with brushing your teeth. LOL! Beginners are welcome most Qigong and Tai Chi classes, including Scooter’s Beginner’s Tai Chi series at Phinney.

Fall Seminars

We are excited to enter “Training Season” this fall. As most of the Moons know, 16 of us leave at the end of this month (August) for China to train with our grand teacher, Grandmaster Chen Xiao Xing, in the Chen Village itself. Chenjiagou is Heart of the Art, where everything originated no matter what style of Tai Chi you practice. We’ve been preparing all year for this. A big thank you to all fellow classmates, family, friends for your support! We look forward to tales and our deepened practice to share with you.

In the meantime we have two fantastic workshops with the Chen Family this fall. The Chen Bing workshop is now waitlisted, but the Chen Zi Qiang workshop is just starting to gain registrants. Grab your spot and go deep in the tradition!

Read, Watch & Learn

“I felt bored the first time I learned meditation,” says Mingyur. “I said, ‘Today is breathing. Tomorrow, again, breathing. The rest of this week, breathing. This is stupid.’”  I love this article! Nine life lessons from the happiest man in the world: from embracing tiny changes to not overthinking meditation

Just in case you need more evidence that it’s good to brush your teeth, I mean practice Tai

Efficacy of traditional Chinese exercises on cognitive function in older adults:

Great advice for Qigong & Tai Chi practice by Davidine On Sequential Movement

This is a very interesting and illuminating lecture to watch on Silk Reeling aka Chan Si Jin. I believe you’ll gain insight.

I came across the Scoolum Foundation on a friend’s social media and I really like a few of their shorts. For example: The Feet, The Ankle, The Knee. Here they are on Instagram There is so much great information out there across multiple platforms on whatever you want to explore. As always, do so judiciously, including what we share in this newsletter.

How about this read for homework over the break? Our favorite Chen Taijiquan authors David Gaffney & Davidine Sim have made available for sale A 55-page PDF collection of conversations with seven accomplished Chen Taijiquan practitioners, exploring training, method, principles, and lived practice. This is a focused look at how experienced practitioners think about Chen Taijiquan, training, and the transmission of skill. A worthy read for both Taiji & Qigong.

Standing

When the students who are traveling to the Chen Village soon asked what they could do to prepare for our ten-day training trip, the answer was easy: Stand. How long? 30 minutes. I was impressed at how
